How to Identify Knockoff Perfumes ( Quelques Fleurs)?
Hi, my mother has been going through some difficult times and I would like to mail her a pick me up. She saved the bottle from a perfume my father bought her before he passed and she absolutely loves this perfume. I would like to buy her a bottle but it is a bit expensive for me at this time, 150 -175.00 for 3.4 oz. The only retail store I could find it as is neiman marcus, at 175.00 I have seen them on ebay for extra cheap and amazon, but I dont want to buy a knock off imitation. Does anyone know how to spot a fake ? Are there differences to look for on the label or box ? The name of the perfume is quelques fleurs the original scent by houbigant. Thanks in advance
The differences will vary depending on how many people have made knock-offs. Most differences can't be seen until you have the bottle or box in hand. Many times there is missing information on the box. Ive seen fakes that were so good that you couldn't tell until you held both boxes up together to compare them (the info, vendor info etc.). I have heard many people tell me that they bought bad bottles from E-Bay and other fragrance sites. Many times it isn't knock-offs, its the real bottle that they get; its just that its so old that the fragrance has turned and gone bad. People will do anything if they think they can make a buck out of it.
To be safe, either wait until you have the money to spend, or find something less expensive to help perk her up. Its a really sweet, nice idea that you have though. Maybe some flowers until you can spend that kind of money? Or maybe they have a smaller size like a 1.7 that is less expensive? I would hate for you to spend $150 on a fragrance that isn't worth $2!
Please just be careful, if it sounds too good to be true; it is! There are more scams online than there are good honest people and deals.
